Blue Whale Tour Information
|
|
The Arrival of the Giants! Every
year in the month of January the islands of Loreto National Marine Park become home for 9 different species of Whales; Blue, Finback, Sei, Sperm, Minke, Pilot, Orcas, Humpback and a few
California Gray Whales, and to large schools of Bottlenose Dolphins, sometimes numbering in the thousands! These magnificent Mammals remain within the confines of the Park until late
March, sometimes their journey extends a little later until the month of May.
A challenge of a task! Due to the complexity involved and the knowledge required in getting close to these Whales, only a handful of companies offer these tours.
The Blue Whale tours are considered to be the greatest adventure and experience that anyone can wish to participate in. These giant Mammals can reach over 100 feet in length, and weigh
over 150 tons, and often we get to see these whales from touching distance... We let our web site pictures do the talking...
Playing Hide and Seek! Our tours
are guided by experienced captains that have extensive knowledge required to bring our guests to the closest distance possible to these giants! The atmosphere aboard our boats is
charged with anticipation and excitement, you can almost cut the air with a knife! Due to the fact that the Blue and the Finback Whales remain on the surface of the water an
average of 2 to 6 minutes prior a dive, and travels at a constant speed of around 10 miles per hour, it is crucial to understand many variables, which will determine the length of the
dive which can be as much as 22 minutes(the record dive from our log books), and the place where the whale will surface. We are continuously moving our boats to a strategic position ready to
encounter these giants--sometimes as close as you can witness by our pictures! In a regular day of whale watching in the Sea of Cortez one stands the chance to see several types of whales,
and it is always an exciting moment moving from one encounter to another!
Tour Dates Since our tours are
offered beginning January 15th and run daily nonstop until March 31st 2002, you may select the best dates to suit your schedule. Direct nonstop flights are offered daily from Los Angeles
through Aero-California. The minimum number of nights/days of whale watching is 3 as stated in our package and rates table, and you may choose as many day tours as you wish.
Great Flexibility You may choose to
interchange between the Blue Whale Tours and Gray Whale Tours in Magdalena Bay without any restriction and without incurring additional charges.
Add Ons Since we offer several
types of activities and tours such as: Kayaking, Snorkeling, Scuba Diving, Tours to the Missions, Cave Painting Tours, you may wish to add additional days to your vacation including any
combination of the above mentioned activities. Please send us an email with the additional tours and number of nights that you are interested in, so that we may send you an exact quote
for your vacation.

The Gentle Giants! Every year in
the month of January the Pacific Lagoons of the Baja Peninsula become home for the migrating Gray Whales. Thousand of tourists come from all over the world to experience this Nature Marvel!
As seen in many documentaries, the Gray Whales approach the boats and often guests are able to touch the whales. These giant Mammals can reach 45 feet in length, and weigh about 30 tons, and
often we get to touch them as seen in our pictures.
A Great Value! we offer Gray whale

comparison between our tour features with other alternatives. The accomodations, the food, the number of hours a day, the number of days, all inclusive unlimited beer and margaritas,
use of mountain bikes etc... Not to mention the flexibility of choosing your own dates, and the lenght of your stay. We depart daily from Loreto and travel to Magdalena Bay by comfortable 15

We are so involved conducting the daily whale watching tours, and since our greatest concern is finding the whales, we have negleted to take many pictures ourselfs(it is a
full time job to collect great pictures, especially of the Blue Whales). Therefore, we wish to express our gratitude to Mr.Leo Decap and Ms. Freya Beitz from Belgium(They have spent 21 days whale watching down
here with us in the month of February 2001) for having taken many of the pictures here posted and for letting us use them in our site. We are providing a link to their site which documents their visit with Baja Outpost.
